About Nanette (Nanny) Oppenheimer
Nanny Hirschhorn (1841 - 1912) Married Eduard Oppenheimer.
Nanny, mother of the diamond king, is a daughter of Nathan and Fanny Hirschhorn who lived in Friedberg.
The family arrived in Friedberg in 1828 with Nathan's father Gottschalk Loew Hirschhorn.
Prior to this date the family had lived for generations in Fauerbach, where for generations they had been soap makers. Their family name derives from this trade. (Hirschhorn is an old-fashioned chemical used in the manufacture of soap).
Nanny and Eduard had 9 children: Bernard, Gustav, Emil, Louis, Franziska, Johanna, Ernest, Otto, Eugen
