Nathaniel Rice (ca. 1694 -died before 29 January 1753) was the acting colonial governor of North Carolina for two short periods during the 18th century.
A native of England, Rice arrived in North Carolina with his family by 1728, having secured commissions as both provincial secretary and councillor. Rice served as acting governor for five months in 1734, when Governor George Burrington was in South Carolina. He served a second time following the death of Governor Gabriel Johnston in July 1752. This term was ended by Rice's own death in January 1753.
His grandson, John Rice, was a member of the North Carolina House of Commons for Wake County in 1777.
