About Nicholas Hale, Ill
In 1800 Major William Cage's second wife died and he married Elizabeth Hale Stephenson who was the sister of his first daughter's husband. She was the daughter of Nicholas Hale of Washington County. The Cages probably lived near the Hale on Sinking Creek (before going to Sumner Co., TN) which is located to the west of Gray community. He did acquire two tracts of land on Sinking Creek in Washington Co. by virtue of his marriage to Elizabeth Hale Stephenson. These tracts were originally part of a land grant to Nicholas Hale.
