Evidence from the Protocol Books of the Town Clerks of Glasgow
14 February 1587-88: Walter, commendator of Blantyre, gave sasine to Patrick Somervell of the King's bedchamber, as attorney and in name of Nicola Somervill, spouse of the said Walter, of the liferent of the lands and property mentioned in No. 3299 [Note] ; and that was done by the commendator, with his own hands, delivering to Patrick Somervill earth and stone of the ground and clap and hopper of the mill. Same witnesses as in No. 3299, with exception of Patrick Somervell, but with the addition of Robert Sinclair, writer and co-notary. Glasgow Protocols X: 3303
