About Norman Lawrence Eberly

Norman Lawrence "Buck" Eberly, 80, of 13740 Lower Edgemont Road, Rouzerville, died at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997, in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md. He had been in failing health for the past five years and was critically ill for the past week.
Born Aug. 22, 1916 in Rouzerville, he was the son of the late E. L. and Bessie (Creager) Eberly. He was a lifelong resident of Rouzerville.
Mr. Eberly and his wife, Emma M. (Geesaman) Eberly, were married Sept. 14, 1938. They moved to their present residence in 1948.
He was employed as a milk delivery man by Arthur's Dairy, Waynesboro, until 1975, and later by Harrisburg Daries. He retired in 1980 after 47 years of service.
Mr. Eberly was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rouzerville, where her was a member of the Augsburg-Delauter Sunday School Class. He also was an usher and served on the Church Council.
An avid hunter and gardener, Mr. Eberly was a life member of the Rouzerville Fish & Game Association and a member of the national AARP.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara J. Layman and Diana K. Mowen, both of Waynesboro; one son, Terry N. Eberly of Rouzerville; one sister, Nellie Montgomery of Chambersburg; one brother, Crawford Eberly of Mont Alto, three grandchildren, two great-grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville, with Pastor Steven E. Thomas officiating.
There will be no public viewing.
Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro is handling the arrangements.
