Ølen : gard og ætt. 1A : Ølen skulekrins by Anders Haugland Dørheim p. 355 item 67

Øystein Halvorsson Osnes, 1836-1906, did among other things have a farm on Osnes in Etne. But he was originally from Skjold in Etne and was the son of Marta Åmunsdtr and Halvard Øysteinsson Skjold. In 1864 he married Marta Eriksdtr. Matskor, Kåtabø (13b), 1836-1896. Øystein bought Dørheim in a foreclosure in 1874, but had to sell the odelsmann (he who had rights to inherit the farm) Bård after 3 years. Then him and Marta moved to Sandvik (16) in Skånevik, but they later returned to Etne. The family can be found under Fjøsna (28) in Etne.

Skåneviksoga. B. 4 : Gardar og ætter Skånevikstrondo by Anders Haugland Sandvik p. 358 item 16

Øystein Halvarsson Osnes, 1836-1906, had earlier runned a farm at Osnes, but was originally from Skjold in Etne. He was married to Marta Eriksdtr. Kåtabø from Ølen, 1836-96. Øystein and Marta had the farm for 5 years, till 1883. Then the son after the last owner took the farm back, after a odelsretts lawsuit. They then moved to Ølen and thereafter to Fjøsna in Etne. Children: a. Marta Margreta b. 1864 b. Olina Helene b. 1872 c. Halvar Olai b. 1877, to America in 1911.

Etne-soga by Ståle Dyrvik, vol IV "Folket. Stødle sokn" Fjøsna p 27 item 28

Øystein Hallvardsson b. 1836 at Skjold (6c), d. 1906 at Osnes. Married 1864 to Marta Eriksdotter b. 1836 on Kåtabø in Ølen d. 1896 on Fjøsna. Married again in 1898 to Brita Johannesdotter b. 1829 at Lio in Fjelberg, d. 1915 at Osnes. She was the widow of Henrik Ingebriktsson Osnes. Øystein and Marta had earlier lived at Matskor (50), Osnes (4) and were out of town (at Dørheim in Ølen and Sandvik (16) in Skånevik) from 1873 to 1887 when they were allowed to buy the farm on Fjøsna by Reinert Hetlesæter. The farm was leased to Ingeborg Jakobsdotter, see above (25), and that was the beginning of a whole series of lawsuits. Øystein also went out against the sheriff and got a case against him in 1890 when he made allegations of of the sheriff being a "fraud". We also get an impression of what kind of man Øystein was in this case from 1888: He was sued by Knut Johannesson Flåto who demanded 200 kroner. In May of that year, they had bet who could ride the fastest from Hølen by Enge bridge to Store Svindal. Øystein lost by a few minutes, but now wanted to avoid payment. In the second marriage, Øystein once again moved to Osnes (5) and left his son Hallvard Olai to run the farm here. Hallvard went to America in 1911, and since then it was his sister Marta in Ølen who kept an eye on the farm. Born of the first marriage were: a. Marta Margreta b. 1864 moved ca. 1873 to Ølen married to Endre Heggen b. Olina Helene b. 1872, moved out ca. 1888 c. Hallvard Olai b. 1877, moved to America in 1911

Etne-soga by Ståle Dyrvik, vol III "Folket. Gjerde sokn." Osnes p 252 item 50

Øystein Hallvardsson married the widow Brita Johannesdotter in 1898. Øystein was a widow himself and had in his earlier marriage runned one of the other farms at Osnes (40). Otherwise see Fjøsna (28). Øystein died here in 1906, Brita in 1915. Sivert Sivertsson on farm no. 7 bought the farm in 1907. From him it went onwards to his sister Kari. She sold it in 1942 to Wilhelm Andreas Bottolfsen, see under (54). The soil was harvested by Kristen Osnes and thereafter Gunnar Lien.
