About Ole Andreas Laugen
Ole Andreas Laugen was born on September 19, 1853. He was the son of Knud (Olsen) Laugen and Karen Sofie Laugen nee Andersdatter Hoöya (Andersdatter = the daughter of Anders). Ole Andreas was baptised on June 4 1854 at the chruch of Bjugn . His godparents were: Lars Olsen Vik; Hans Johansen Vik; Fredrik Christiansen Haarberg; Martha Andersdatter Roenne, and Karen Andersdatter Moltuen.

Ole Andreas (whose then last name was Grudt) moved away from Orland parish to the rural residence of Laugen in Naeroy parish, together with his parents and two older siblings Margrethe (b. 1848 in Orland) and Adolph (b. 1850 in Orland), in the year of 1864.

During the 1865 census for Nærøy parish, Ole Andreas Knutsen (later Laugen) lived on the rural residence of Laugen, and worked as a shepherd under the indepent, farm owner Johan Andreas Pedersen (b. 1833 in Naeroy) and his wife Jonaetta Christine Halvorsdatter (b. 1830 in Kolvereid). The married couple had two children. They also had two other servants working under them.

Ole Andreas Laugen emigrated to Prescott in the United States from Namdalen in Norway. He emigrated together with his parents Knud O. Laugen and Karen Sophie Laugen and his siblings Adolf Laugen; Hanna Oline Laugen; Claudia Sophie Laugen, and Margrete Christine Laugen. They travelled with the stream boat Tasso 'across the pond' to the United States.
