Dragon, family, by Author Bengt Hildebrand.
Band 11 (1945), page 396.
Dragon, family of salvation from Småland and Östergötland. Mainly in Småland, during the late Middle Ages two low-genus families appear, in the literature called Sunnerbo-Drakarna and Västbo - Drakarna . Among the former were bl. a. Magnus Birgersson Drake (lived still in 1465, was d.1474) to Kalvnäs in Högsby sn (Kalm.), joined Stäkeborg in 1427, governor of Aspeland and Sevede 1448 (cf. Svea High Court Liber causarum 60, no. 6, National Archives), En'annan branch owned from the end of the 13th century to the end of the 16th century Ugglebo in Ryssby sn (Kronob.). The genealogy of the genus, which was disputed already in a succession process 1475, is nowhere fully satisfactory investigated; its weapon was a dragon. It has been stated, but without binding evidence, that from this lineage might have descended from the nobility genus introduced in 1646 and then called Drake af Torp and Hamra (probably extinct in 1709); however, the christian name used in the later genus Christer suggests, however, friendship with Västboätten. The family included Colonel Johan Christersson Drake af Torp and Hamra, who fell in the battle of Landskrona in 1677. Among his children are the chief lieutenant, Fredrik Drake (b. 1660), who fell in the battle of Pultava 1709 and is named in Heidenstam's novel "Poltava" in the "Carolines", and Sophia Drake (d. 1741 ), GM Lieutenant Colonel Jon Stålhammar and in the literature known as the one by Snoilsky in "Swedish pictures" sung "Woman at Salshult". - Västbo-Drakarnas (weapon: flying dragon) ancestor Kristiern Drake is said to have married Margareta Krumme, widow of the county governor Olof Jönsson (older Capricorn). The son Olof (Kristersson) Drake was a long time and still 1518 governor of Västbo. His daughter's son in the rider champion Olof Nilsson Drake (d. 1590) - on the ancestor of the genus (weapon: spar over star) s that still survives in. the gracious lineage Stenbock - adopted the name D., and the genus introduced in 1625 and extinct in 1635, is known as Drake af Intorp . About Olof Nilsson's father's cousin, the Swedish National Council, Arvid Knutsson ;, (d. 1497), and his son the gunman and the chief of governors, Olof Arvidsson (d. 1508), who took up the mother's weapon (capricorn), see Stenbock. Olof Kristersson D's son (Olof Nilsson D's uncle) Arvid Olofsson Drake (d. After 1532), joined in Allbo and Östbo, was the father of Märta Arvidsdotter, about 1550 m. Field Colonel Knut Håkansson (Hand); cf. Hand , family. Their son the governor Arvid Knutsson Drake (d. Trol. 1618) took the mother's name and became the ancestor of the family Drake af Hagelsrum, see this one.
