Otis Vandeventer, 94, of Bloomfield, passed away at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Lyons Health and Living Center in Lyons.
Born June 3, 1914 in Greene County, he was the son of Edward and Dona (Flake) Vandeventer.
He was retired as a construction worker for the G.H. Allen Company in Vincennes. He attended the Pleasant Ridge Pentecostal Church, was a member of the Laborers Union and the Finishers union.
Surviving relatives include: three daughters, Joan Sharr and her husband Joe of Bloomfield, Joyce Franklin and her husband Tom of Bloomington, and Janet Helms and her husband Bobby of Switz City; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace (Bingham) Vandeventer in 1992; his parents; one grandson, Tim Helms;and six brothers.
There will be no public visitation or funeral services. Private graveside services will be conducted.
