4. ROBERT BROWNELL (Thomas1), born about 1652, died in Little Compton on 12 Juy..1728. He married MARY (LADD?).
Robert Brownell evidently lived on the west side of the Long Highway, nearfly opposite to Qucksand Pond.
His will made 29 Jan. 1718 and proved 20 Aug. 1728, recorded in Taunton [Bristol County, Massachusetts) book 6, page 142: "....My house and all my land on he west side of the highway where I now live to my son Thomas Brownell and land I bought of Thomas Brownell and Edward Gray 42 acres in all. To son Benjamin Brownell the house and land whee he now lives from above the highway eastward to Quicksand Pond; room in my house and income of one half of land of son Benjamin [to?] To wife Mary Brownell one hald of stock and she to be executrix. To daughters Patience, Margaret and Ann, 10 pounds each/ To grandson Wilbour 5 pounds ...."

Robert Brownell, son of Thomas and Ann Brownell, born 1652: died July 22, 1728; married Mary (surname unknown), and had six children.

- Benjamin, born April 11, 1697 ; married Hannah Manchester.
- Patience.
- Margaret.
- Mary.
He became a Freeman in 1673. In June, 1689, he was a Selectman of Little Compton, R. I. On December 25, 1689, he became Ensign. He and his wife Mary, sold his sister Martha Wait, of Portsmouth, R. I., thirty acres of land in Little Compton, for twenty pounds, on March 8, 1690.
Will
Will was dated January 29, 1718 and was proven August 20.
1728. Executrix, wife Mary; overseers, Thomas Brownell, Jr.. and Joseph Wilbur, Jr. "To son Thomas, land on west side of highway where I live, and forty-two acres of other land; to son Benjamin, all housing and land where I live, east of highway, only wife to have one room in the house and income of half the lands, with firewood provided by son Benjamin; to son Benjamin, half of all stock, he paying legacies; to daughter Mary's three children, five pounds each; to three daughters Patience, Margaret and Anna, ten pounds each; to grandson Wilbur, five pounds; to wife Mary, the other half of stock, and all houshold goods for life, and at her death to be divided to daughters."
Inventory, two hundred and fifty-five pounds, eighteen shillings and six pence, viz: two beds, wearing apparel, broadsword, cheese-press, eighteen sheep, eleven lambs, pair of oxen, two cows, bull, heifer, two calves, colt, young horse, mare, Hve swine, churn, etc.
