Evidence from the Protocol Books of the Town Clerks of Glasgow

16 September 1559: John Or, attorney, and in name of John Campbell of Skippinche, and lady Marion Mungumry, his spouse, produced a precept of sasine (which the notary read and explained in the common language) whereby Hugh Mungumry of Hisilheid, lord of the lands aftermentioned, and sold by him, charged Andrew Mungumry, as bailie in hac part, to give sasine to the said John Campbell and spouse, and l.l., of the 10 merk land, old extent, of Liandcross, in the barony and shire of Renfrew, conform to a charter subscribed and sealed at Glasgow, on 8 June, 1559, in presence of Andrew Mungumry, servitor to the said John, Patrick Craufurd, brother of q. William Craufurd of Auchinuemmis, David Young, and William Iegiit, notary. Sasine given on the ground of the lands in terms of the precept. Witnesses: Thomas Maxuell, John Neilson, tenants of the lands, and William Mathe, son of q. John Mathe. Glasgow Protocols V; protocol number 1349

Evidence from the National Records of Scotland

26 November 1563: Contract between Adam Montgomery younger, Laird of Braidstane on the one part and Margaret Blair, relict of unquhile John Montgomery in Blakistoun on the other part, whereby Adam binds himself to infeft Margaret Blair in the 40s land of Blakistoun, siclyk as she and her said husband brouked of before for all the days of her lifetime for 20 merks of maill to be paid yearly. Dated at the Kirk of Downe. Witnesses: Patrick Craufurd, son to unquhile Thomas Craufurd of Auchinamis, James Campbell of Dowcalthill, John Lyn of Croftheid, and George Boyd exhorter of Dalry and notary public.
