Patrick James Horrigan

Patrick James Horrigan, the last of the six Horrigan siblings of Richard Sr. and Tillie. Pat was first a high school athlete, a pilot, veteran of WWII, policeman, bar & restaurant owner, hotel owner, boxing trainer, general entrepreneur, bail bondsman, insurance company owner, and politician. He was a loving father, grandfather and in polite company referred to as a "smooth operator." Pat was indeed many things but to us he was Uncle Pat. He seemed at times to be a millionaire and at other times on the brink of bankruptcy. He gambled in business with the luck of an Irishman and the heart of a lion. Like his older brother Roy, Pat became a welter weight boxing champion during his military service and later trained and sponsored a number of New Orleans native boxers. Pat was first married to Dorothy Perez ending in divorce but having seven children. He then married Faye who would be found to be a matriarchal type for any child needing support. The marriage produced four more children. Pat always maintained a business but added a fun nature to all of his endeavors. When the money was flowing, Pat was generous as all around enjoyed the fruits of his efforts. Pat would live his life as always with reckless abandon and a full speed ahead attitude. The family would not know the impact this man had on so many lives until his death. Seeing the substantial persons from all walks of life paying their last respects to the man who provided direction to their being was a glowing tribute to the man who was simply a guy from the Irish Channel..
