About Paula Rachel Winter
On January 6, 1905 aboard the SS Pennsylvania, sailing from Hamburg, Abraham (age 26) and Pessa (age 23) Winter and Samuel (age 28) and Sara (age 27) Bleiweiss emigrated to Toronto, Canada via the Port of New York, arriving there January 22, 1905. Their destination was listed as a cousin Jakob Bokanek in Toronto.
CITY PHILANTHROPIST MRS A WINTER DIES Mrs Abraham Winter, 62 of Barton Ave died suddenly Tuesday while visiting the home of her daughter Mrs Herbert Sherman, Raglan Ave. A native of Poland, Mrs Winter came to Toronto 40 years ago. She was one of the founders of Mount Sinai hospital and was a member of the Toronto Hebrew Benevolent society, Beth Jacob synagogue, Henry Street Old Folks Hone and the Talmud Torohas Brunswick Ave. Funeral service was helld today at the chapel of H Benjamin and Son, Spadina Ave with interment in Dawes Road cemetery. Surviving are her husband, two daughters Mrs S C Schiller and Mrs Sherman;four sons Jack Winter Ottawa, Capt Harry Winter RCAMC overseas, Capt Benjamin Winter, RCAMC overseas and Louis L Winter a student at the University of Toronto and two brothers, one sister and eight grandchildren
