About Pauline Agnes Travis

Pauline Agnes (Stewart) Travis, 98, of Anderson, died Jan. 6, 2016, at Community Hospital after an extended illness. Pauline was born March 24, 1917, in Carlisle, Ind., to David E. and Genevieve (Steele) Stewart. She moved to Anderson in May of 1928, graduated from Anderson High School in 1935. She worked at Guide Lamp from 1936 to 1941 and then as a nurse's aide at Community Hospital for 13 1/2 years before retiring in 1977. She was a member of North Anderson Church of God since 1932; Kum-Join-Us-Club member for 50 years and had served as president; member of Missionary Society; president of North Anderson Mother's Club; volunteered 50 years and more than 10,000 hours as a Pink Lady at Community Hospital; life member of North Anderson School Parent-Teacher's Association. She is survived by her sons, Daryl Lee Travis and Keith Leon Travis, both of Anderson; five grandsons, Randy (Patty) Travis of Carmel, Phillip (Katrina) Travis of Apex, N.C., Scott (Michelle) Travis of Indianapolis, Darin (Barat) Travis of Baton Rouge, La., and Brady Travis of Anderson; granddaughter, Lana (Geof) Crouse of Rockville, Md.; 12 great-grandchildren, Britney Travis, Brandon Travis, Eryn Travis Baccari, Cameron Travis, Hayley Travis, Lillian Travis, Abagail Travis, Lexi Travis, Grace Travis, Andrew Travis, Hannah Travis and Braden Travis; and a sister, Frieda (Frank) Provost of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur R. Travis; two sisters, Thelma Hutton and Mildred Bridges; and a brother, Malcolm Stewart. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Tom Malbone officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home Memorial contributions may be given to Madison Park Church of God.
