Biography

Peleg was born in 1751. He was the son of William Sanford and Mary Waite. He passed away in 1789.

He is buried in the graveyard of the Stone Church on Peckham's Hill in Tiverton, with this inscription:

"To the Memory of Peleg Sanford Esq., who departed this life 13 May 1789 aged 32 years. Although his life was short he accomplished much for the good of his country. During the Revolution he proved himself a genuine Patriot and constantly and successfully advocated theadoption of the Constitution of the United States." This inscription is now no longer legible.
