"William, son of Restcome, was a house carpenter. He purchased land in Tiverton, where he was living, of Elijah Allen, Jan. 4, 1782 ; recorded at Taunton, Liber 60, p. 447.
William, son of William, lived in Tiverton about a mile north of 'The Head of the River,' afterwards called Adamsville. The house was on rising ground west of the road. From the top of a large rock S. W. of the house the sea or river could be seen. He removed with his family about May, 1797, to New York State. They came up the Mohawk by scow boats pushed by setting poles. From Utica they went with teams to the old farm which had first been taken up by Thomas Brownell Simmons, though squatters had made two small clearings, one of which was called Teller's chopping... "
