About Pesha Dolnansky
Ship manifest has Pose, she is Pesha, leaving Le Havre on 20 October 1923, and arriving at the port of New York on the S.S. Suffern on November 1, 1923. Age on manifest is 66 years old and widowed. Place of origin is Olita (Alytus). She journeyed with her children Mordchelis (Max or Mordechai, 31), Basia (Beatrice, 26) and Rosa (Rose or Raisel 24). Their destination was the home of Sam Dolnansky at 243 Grand Street in Brooklyn. Sam was a son of Pese and Reb Moishe who arrived earlier. The spelling of Dolnansky is different on every document. The ship manifest has it spelled Dolanski.
Pesha supported the family by managing a bakery. As per Lou Elbaum, Pesha was the second wife of Reb Moshe. Her sister had been the first wife. Pesha lived with Max (Muttel, Mordechai) and Eva Dolnansky.
1940 census has Pesha living with Max and Eva Dolnansky in the Bronx. She is listed as 75 years old in the census. That would make her birth date 1865 and not 1857 which I have listed on the tree and 58 when she arrived in the US.
