About Reb Moishe Ha Levi Dolnansky
Not sure about spelling in Europe. There was Lithuanian spelling, Russian spelling, who knows. The Jewish Gen database for Lithuania has a record for a Movsha Dolnyansky in 1874, and his father - head of household is Mordkhel Dolnyansky. Unfortunately, no dates are listed for births. Mordkhel's father's name is listed as Movsha. I wonder how far back this Moshe and Mordechai went. It is possible that there we no surnames before this point.
As per Lou Elbaum, Reb Moishe's first wife died (name not indicated) and was left with two daughters, Sarah and Bessie. His second wife was Pesha, sister of first wife, but no distinction was made among the children. Reb Moishe studied and was involved in communal affairs. Pesha supported the family by running a bakery.
All of the "younger" cousins were named Morris. This grandfather probably died between 1919 and 1920. Sam had a son, Harry, in 1919, and his name was Harry. The next son, was Morris. Folke (Hyman) Dolensky had a son Morris, in 1920. The younger sons were named for the grandfather after he died (as per Arthur Dolnansky). Peshe was a fairly recent widow when she came to the U.S. in 1923. Perhaps it was the death of her husband that made it possible to leave, with the rest of her children.
