About Peter Dundas

Links: Kåre Hasselberg research on Peter Dundas:

The Dundases of Norway descends from an immigrated scotsman named Peter Dass or Dundas, who came from Dundee ca.1630 and settled down in Bergen, but later moved to Northern Norway and settled down permanently there. He had a sister named Maria who married a Bergen merchant named Johan (Jan) Fasmer.

One Peter Dundas is mentioned in 1562 in the Kirk Session register of St.Andrews , as his father Archibald Dundas in Pote (Pottey) was divorced from his wife Gelis Scrymgeour due to Archibald's adultery with two women. Peter was made responsible for bringing his father to the baillie of Abernethie (near Perth) and "underly civil correccione for the foyrsaidis crimis". Maintland Club page 294

Another Peter Dundas (or the same?) made February 4th, 1554 a contract with the curator of Thomas Hamilton of Priestfield, to lease the lands of Balvin in the sheriff-dom of Perth from Thomas Hamilton.

Archibald Dundas in Pote. He may perhaps be that "A.D. de Pottey", who is mentioned "in assize" in Edinburgh together with Alexander Dundas of Fingask June 3rd, 1540, and also in assize in Edinburgh April 19th, 1544. Both documents are found in Register of the Great Seal of Scotland, vol.III no.2156 and 3009). This may perhaps indicate a relationship to the Dundases of Fingask
