Peter Peter Eckler

Peter Eckler was born July 2, 1754, in Fort Plain, Herkimer County, New York, the son of Hendrick Eckler, born 1711 in Palantinate, Germany and his wife, Margaret Young, born 1716, in Schoharie, New York. [1]

Peter served as a soldier in the American Revolutionary War under Captains Henry Eckler, Eisenlord, Abraham Copeman, Colonels Peter Bellinger, Willet and Cox. His pension was rejected because he did not appear to have served at least six months, as required by the pension law, under which he applied. He is Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) ancestor #A036308 [2]

On November 12, 1782, in the Reformed Church, in German Flatts, Herkimer, New York, Peter married Christina Kramer. [3] Peter and Christina were the parents of ten children [4]

On February 23, 1818, in Danube, Herkimer County, New York, Peter married Hannah (Shafer) Cronkhite, widow of Henry Cronkhite, who died in 1815. Hannah was the mother of ten or more children from her first marriage. [5]
