About Phebe Borden
Married in Hartland, Conn. 18 Aug. 1802 to Asahel Borden, b. Hartland, Conn. 18 Aug. 1782, d. 8 Mar. 1869. On the 29 May 1804, They set out from Hartland with an ox team to go to Hartford, Ohio, and arrived at their destination the 20 July, having been 53 days on the trail. They settled on the farm which she still occupied in 1875 at the time of her death at the age of 91, having outlived all the original pioneers. She has been often quoted as the authority for the statement that "the father of Alexander Bushnell was a seaman and lost his life at sea, before his son was born."
