"Pieter Strycker took the oath of allegiance as a 'native' in Flatbush in 1687 and Dec. 27, 1689 we find him Captain of foot Militia. His Flatbush residence was a stately building of Holland brick in the quaint Dutch Style, with the letters 'P.S. 1686' over the doorway"

From "The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record" Volume 82, page 196:

"Pieter Strycker was baptised in Flatbush, L.I. and like his father was a man of great prominence in the early Colony. He was a Patentee (land owner) of Flatbush and High Sheriff of Kings County in 1683 and Captain of the Militia in 1689; also Judge of the Court from 1720-1722.

His house in Flatbush (torn down about 1847) was a stately Holland brick building in olden Dutch style. It had a design of blue and red glazed bricks over the doorway. The home also had a 'Great Southern Room and a well' as described in his will. This land was handed down many generations in his family.
