About Pvt. Albert K. Killgrove, (USA)
Albert K. Killgrove served in the Union Army during the American Civil War in Company A, 2nd Arkansas Cavalry Regiment. He enlisted on August 1, 1863 in Fayetteville, Arkansas and mustered in on November 1, 1863 in Springfield, Missouri.On October 7,1863, he was admitted to U.S.A. General Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. On April 1, 1864 Albert Killgrove was reported a deserter, but in fact he was on a leave of absence and was cut off from his company by the rebels. He reported to Col. Cloud at Dardunelle, Arkansas and done duty at that place until he was able to return to the company. He returned on August 20, 1864 in Fayetteville, Arkansas and was taken back without any stoppage of pay or allowance, by order of Gen. John B. Sanborn. On June 13, 1879 the War Department formally removed the charge of desertion from his record.
