THOMAS TOWNE was born in Topsfield, Mass., 8 Feb 1742/43 (VR*) to Elisha and Mercy (FOSTER) TOWNE. .

He married abt 1770, SARAH BURTON, bp. 8 Oct 1749 in Middleton, Mass. (VR**), daughter of John and Abigail (PAINE) BURTON. He served in the Rev War in Capt. Benjamin Taylor's co. in the Winter Hill campaign, and also in Capt. Goss's co. at Bennington. He died 28 May 1824 in Dover-Foxcroft, Piscataquis, Maine.
