According to the gravestone of his granddaughter, Anna [Hendl] (Goldschmid) Dienstag (1774-1848), Wolf Knöpfelmacher was a “regional rabbi”. Translation of her stone: “Hendl, wife of Lipman Dienstag, died 9 Tamuz 5608 — her paternal grandfather was a regional rabbi, and her maternal grandfather, likewise.”
Prior to the 1780s, R’ Wolf Knöpfelmacher is believed to have moved to Freistadtl. He died there in the early 1800s.
