  • NATHAN BRADLEY, b. 1638; came from England, a boy; landed at Saybrook; thence journeyed across the wilderness (then unbroken by settlements) to New Haven. He set in Guilford. He was quite a hunter, and discovered the sources of the Hammonaset river in a pond which is still called "Nathan's Pond", For a bear story in which he played a subordinate part, the principal being borne by the bear, see Farber's Hist. Coll. of Conn., p. 225. He m. (3) May 10 1698, RACHEL HOLTON, dau. of Dea. Wm. of Northampton, Mass., and wid. of THOMAS STRONG; Nathan Noah Bradley, exr. of the will of NATHAN BRADLEY of Guilford, paid legacies in 1711. Dec. 11 and 31, to Mary Tuttle, Patience Eaton, Esther Marshall; wit. to Mary Tuttle, Isaac Griswold and Wm. Rogers; wit. to Patience Eaton, Jonathan Murray and Joshua Tuttle.
