About Rev. Ezekiel Holliman

He was from Tring, Hertford County, England.

1634- He came to America about this year and first resided at Dedham, MA.

1637- He had a grant of land at Salem, MA this year.

1638, March 12- Upon appearing before General Court upon summons "because he did not frequent the public assemblies and for seducing many, he was referred by the Court to the ministers for conviction."

1638, October 8- He was one of the twelve persons to whom Roger Williams (founder of RI) deeded land he had purchased from the Native American Sachems Canonicus and Miantonomi,"

1639- He baptized Roger Williams who then baptized him. They were both among the 12 original membner of the First Baptist Church of Providence, RI.

1643, January 12- He and 10 others purchased from American Native Sachem Miantonomi a tract of land called Shawomet (Warwick, RI) for 144 fathoms of wampum.

1643- He had a lot of land at Portsmouth, RI, previouly granted to him, forfeited because he had not built upon it by the prescibed date.

1647- Member of the Town Council.

1648- Member of the Court of Trial.

1651, January 29- He sold to William Harris a right to lands in Pawtuxet for 20 pounds, one part to be paid by a cow and steer, the rest to be paid ingood merchantable wampum-peage or cattle.

1652-56, 58-59: Commissioner.

1655- Freeman.

1656- Magistrate.

1658- Warden.

1659, September 27- The Town Council met about ordering his estate, having finished a will.

1659, October 5- Inventory of estate valued at 183 pounds, 6 shillings, 6 pence.
