PRIEST DIES SUDDENLY
Rev. Pancratius Suddenly Stricken at Farming Last Night
Former Prior of St. John's
Served Many Years and Built a Great Many Churches Hereabouts
Rev. Father Pancratius, parish priest at Farming, died there last evening, very suddenly, aged 58 years. The funeral will probably take place Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. from St. John's.
Father Pancratius was taken suddenly ill last evening at the parsonage, and a messenger was at once sent to Richmond for a priest, but death ensued within twenty minutes and before the priest arrived. The nature of the illness is not definitely known, but it is supposed to have been heart trouble.
Father Pancratius was born May 24, 1846 in Germany. He began his education for holy orders in Germany, and completed it at St. John's college, with which he was connected 34 years, and where he was ordained September 1, 1874. Some years after his ordination he was elected prior of St. John's, which position he held a number of years. After leaving St. John's, which position he held a number of years. After leaving St. John's he did missionary work at various points, among them being Freeport, where he built a church; Luxemberg; Minneapolis, where he built a parish house; Meier Grove, where he built a parish house; Richmond; Spring Hill; Rich Prairie, where he built a church, and at Farming where he has been stationed for the past two years and where he built a handsome church. Deceased was well known and much beloved in St. Cloud where so many years of his active life were spent, and news of his sudden call comes as a shock to many who loved him.
He leaves one brother, who formerly lived at Melrose, and a niece who is Mrs. Joseph Keppers of this city.
In his death card, he was 59 years, 9 months and 18 days old. He had been born in Prussia. His parents were Math and Gertrude Gamans. He died at Farming in Stearns County.
