1680, 17 Apr: Jno. THOMAS of Charles Co., MD made his will. I fully, absolutely and wholly give & bequeath unto my dear and loving friend, Jno. WAUGH, of Potomacke ye County of Stafford, Clerke, whome I make Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, And in case of his death to one amongst the Children of ye said Jno. WAUGH, the Survivour of them equally to be divided share and share alike, excepting 500 pounds of Tobacco which I give and bequeath unto my kinde lovinge Schoolmaster, George WEALE.

1691, 23 Oct: Henry THOMPSON of Stafford Co., VA, Gent., made his will. Appoints my trustie friende John WAUGH, Clarke, my whole & sole executor. ... I will & desire that one large Seale tinge off twentie shillings price be delivered to Joseph ye Son of John WAUGH abovesaid.

1707, 13 May: Indenture, Joseph WAUGH of Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co., VA, planter deed to George MASON of the parish & county afsd, for 10 pounds Sterling, 1085 acres of land situate in the parish & county afsd, 885 acres part thereof being part of a patent of land granted to John ALEXANDER by patent dated 25 Oct 1669, and the other part being 200 acres sold by Hen. PAYTON to John WAUGH Clk deced by deed dated 12 Feb 1695, the other former 885 acres by several conveyances came to John WAUGH clk in fee who dying & making no disposition thereof the land with the appurtenances descended to Joseph WAUGH Son & heir of John WAUGH Clk. Signed Joseph WAUGH. Wits. N. POPE, Hen. PARRY. At a Court held 14 May 1707 the within deed of sale was acknowledged by Joseph WAUGH in person unto George MASON Gentl. and all the lands & tenements therein mentd or contained to be the proper Estate & Inheritance of George MASON.

1707, 11 Jun: Indenture, Joseph WAUGH in Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co., VA, planter, deed to George MASON of parish & county afsd, planter, for 10 L lawful money of England, 1200 acres of land lying in parish & county aforesaid nigh the head of Potomack Creek & part of a greater pattent of land granted unto John WAUGH Clk deced for 6300 acres the afsd land descending upon Joseph as Son & heir to John WAUGH Clk the land to be equally divided into 5 equal parts & the said George MASON to take and accept the fourth lot or choice of the same. Signed Joseph WAUGH. Wits. Thos. BALLARD, Nathl. POPE, Will. FITZHUGH. Memorandum that upon the 12tb day Jun 1707 that livery & seizin was delivered of Turff. & Twigg in the name of the whole in presence of N. POPE, Thos. BALLARD.

1707, 8 Jul: Joseph WAUGH of Stafford Co., VA, for full sum 3500 pounds Tobo by me and my Order in hand already reced of Thomas GREGG of county afsd .. assign 20 acres of land be the same more or less lying in county afsd bounded .. southerly & easterly with Whipsowarsom Creek or gut northerly upon Potomack Creek westerly with the land of the said 20 acres being a point of land included on the upper side of Wippowarsam by pattent for 1000 acres of land granted first to Col. Thos. PETTIS bearing date 10 Feb1652 after renewed by Order of Governour & Council bearing date 15 Mar 1658 and after that renewed to Mr. Henry MEESE by pattent bearing date 20 Oct 1665 and since by divers conveyances conveyed down first to my Father John WAUGH deced then to me Joseph WAUGH & John WAUGH my brother the 20 acres hereby sold being part of said 2000 (sic) acres. Signed Joseph WAUGH. Wits. Leo. TARENT, Thos. BALLARD, Wm. HEABERD. Memorandum that on 9 July 1707 Joseph WAUGH delivered livery & seizin ., of Turff & Twigg in name of the whole in presence John WAUGH, Abraham FARROW. At a Court held 9 Jul 1707 The within Deed of Sale acknowledged by Joseph WAUGH in person unto Thos. GREGG Gentl. and Rachel WAUGH in person relinquished her right of dower to same which together with deed is ordered to be recorded.

1707/8, 11 Feb: At Stafford Co., VA Court, the within power of attorney upon motion of Major William ROBINSON was ordered to be recorded. Whereas we William FITZHUGH, Thomas GREGG, Henry CONNYER & Leonard TARENT were this day appointed and elected auditors of the matter in difference between Joseph WAUGH, John WAUGH and Alexr. WAUGH, Admrs. of John WAUGH Clk deced & John HAWKINS & Christian his wife late Widow of the said deced relating to her thirds of the personal of said John WAUGH Clk & thereupon having fully audited adjusted stated & settled all accounts concerning the same do award, John HAWKINS & Christian his wife for a full ballance of their share and part of the estate of John WAUGH deced that is at present come to the hands of Admrs. shall be one feather bed & furniture according to the appraismt. 1600; one trunk 80; one looking glass 36 & that they have third part of the estate of the deced as shall hereafter come into hands of Joseph WAUGH 11 Dec 1707.

1715/6, 17 Mar: Joseph WAUGH was granted 8050 acres beginning upon the run of Potomack Creek, Stafford Co., VA.

1717, 15 Jul: Joseph WAUGH patented 436 acres in St. Mary's Parish, Essex Co., VA, on the south side of Rappahannock River in the fork beginning &c. against Old Golleps plantation.

1722, 10 Oct: To all to whom these presents shall come Know Ye that Wee Joseph WAUGH and Rachall GOWRY Executors of the Last Will & Testament of John GOWRY deced doth give unto Sarah SCOTT wife of John SCOTT a negroe Boy called Ned now in the possession of. Sarah, or to whom she shall think fitt to leave him at her decease. Signed Joseph WAUGH, Rachel GOWRY.

1722/3, 2 Mar: Joseph WAUGH was granted 840 acres being in the counties of Stafford and King George, VA, beginning on the north side of a branch of the North Marsh Run.

1723, 11-12 Jun: Indenture, Joseph WAUGH and Mary his wife, Executrix of last Will & Testament of Edward MOUNTJOY of Stafford Co., VA, Gent. deced deed to John LOMAX of Essex Co., VA, Gent. Whereas the said Edward MOUNTJOY by his Last Will & Testament bearing date 26 Sep 1712 duly proved in Stafford Co. Court amongst other things appointed Mary his wife whom he made his sole Executrix to sell a certain tract belonging to said Edward upon Potomack Creek Run for the payment of his debts in these words following vizt. It is my will and desire and I doe hereby direct and appoint that my loving wife Mary whom I appoint executrix of this my last Will & Testament should dispose of the tract of land belonging to me lyeing upon Potomack run and that the money or tobaccoe for which the same shall be sold be appropriated towards the satisfaction of my just debts my mind meaning and intent is and I do hereby devise the said land upon Potomack Run unto my said Executrix, for purpose aforesaid. Now this Indenture witnesseth that Joseph WAUGH and Mary his wife by deeds of Lease & Release for 40 pounds Sterling money of Great Brittain doth sell John LOMAX land on North side of the main run of Potomack Creek being surveyed and pattented for 246 acres and 96 poles of land bounded Beginning at a marked white oake standing opposite the upper corner tree of the lands of Thomas BROOKS on the North side of the main run of Potomack Creek above land of Mr. John WAUGH Clerk along main run extending into the woods to beginning, laid at for 246 acres and 96 poles being granted unto Edward MOUNTJOY by Pattent 11 Aug 1704 part of the land being now in occupation of Matthew HUBBARD. 1723, 11-12 Sep: Indenture, Joseph WAUGH, David WAUGH and Priscilla HAY Widdow Surviving Executors of the Last Will & Testament of John WAUCH of Stafford Co., VA, Gent. deceased deed to the Reverd. Alexander SCOTT of said County, Clerk. Whereas John WAUGH aforesaid by his Last Will & Testament bearing date 8 Oct 1716 duely proved in Stafford Co. among other things ordered that his Executors should sell sundry lotts in the town of Marlbrough with the lands and edifices thereon as also 1000 acres of land upon Wolfe Run in the said county Stafford in these words following vizt; Item it is my Will and meaning that my lotts in the towns of Marlbrough with the lands and edifices thereon be by my Executors sold and disposed of for the good of my children and the product thereof wholly to return to them and also 1000 acres of land granted to me by Pattent from the Proprietors office lying upon Wolfe run which I leave in the like manner to be disposed of by my Executors and the product thereof to be putt for the use of my children. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the surviving Executors of the Last Will & Testament of John WAUGH deced for 10,000 pounds of good tobacco and the within mentioned sum of 5 shillings Sterling doth sell 1000 acres part of a parcel bounded Beginning at a red oake standing by the side of Wolfe Run, being laid out for 1025 acres and being granted unto John WAUGH deced by pattent bearing date 25 Feb 1709, the said 1000 acres part of the said 1025 being left to be sold, WAUGH doth further agree that John WAUGH an Infant under the age of 21 years oldest Son of the said John WAUGH deced shall as soon as he shall arrive to full age of twenty one years, or in case John should die before arrive at 21, that then the next surviving son of the said John WAUGH the Father deced shall be right heir unto the said John WAUGH. Acknowledged in county court of Stafford or in case the said County of Stafford shall be divided then in the County where the said 1000 acres of land shall lye and be such further deeds for the conveying. 1730, 13 Oct: John MERCER is released from a lease of land formerly owned by John WAUGH, deceased, and managed by his executors David WAUGH, Priscilla HAY (formerly VANDERGASTEEL), and the now deceased Joseph WAUGH and Alexander WAUGH. The four executors were to sell the land, but had not done so by 1730.
