Reverend Richard Lancaster was born in 1562 in Lancashire, Rainhill, Merseyside, England, and was baptized on September 21, 1562, in Prescot, Merseyside, England, United Kingdom. His parents were Thomas of Rainhill De Lancaster of Rainhill, I and Margaret Laton. He was a Chaplain to Prince Henry:[[Henry Frederick, Prince of Wales] James VI worried that the mother's tendency toward Catholicism might affect their son, then chose Rev. Richard Lancaster, as Prince Henry’s personal Chaplain. Rev. Lancaster’s family were Roman Catholic.
