Civil War Union Army Chaplain. He was mustered in as Chaplain of the 158th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry on December 1, 1862, and was mustered out with the regiment on August 12, 1863. +++++++++++ The son of Jacob & Elizabeth (Bressler) Hartman, he married Mary E. Davis February 14, 1839, and fathered Caroline (b. @1840 in Virginia) and John (b. @1843). In 1850, he was a Methodist Episcopal minister living in Licking Creek Township, Fulton Co., but he is not found in the 1860 census.
