Roberts, Ancestors of American Presidents, says Richard Barnard, Kingston, Wiltshire England to Chester County (now Delaware County, Pennsylania), died ca. 1698, married to Frances Lambe at Chippenham (Quaker) Meeting, Wiltshire 1678. [1]
Death and Probate: Richard Barnard died intestate about May 5, 1698 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. On May 11, 1698, Letters of Administration on his Estate were granted to his Widow Frances Barnard.[2] Frances filed an Adminstrator's Bond on May 11, 1698. The additional Bondsman was Robert Carter. The Inventory of Richard's Estate, completed by Robert Carter and Robert Pyle, was filed approved on September 1, 1698.[3]
Post Death Land Transaction: By instrument dated May 29, 1712, Richard Barnard, the elder son of Richard Barnard, late of the Township of Aston, Chester County, Pennsylvania granted to Thomas Barnard, his brother, of the same Township, all of his interest in two tracts of land (one 75 ac. and the second 175 ac.) located in the Township of Aston, Chester County. Pennsylvania. The Deed recites that the 75 ac. tract was granted to Richard Barnard Sr. in March of 1693 and the 175 ac tract was the subject of a Warrant issued by the Proprietors on September 6, 1701, and confirmed by Patent issued to Richard Barnard, son of Richard Barnard, on February 5, 1704. The Deed of May 29, 1712 was recorded on August 7, 1712.[4]
