Richard Chitwood (1764-1822) was born in 1760's VA, died in 1822 MO.
He married 3 Feb 1789 Greenbriar Co, VA, Mary Cantley, b 1769 VA. d between 1809/22 St. Ferdinand Twp (now Florissant), St. Louis County, MO, dau of John Cantley and Eleanor Lindsay.
Richard's brother Seth Chitwood, b 1766 VA, d 1850, Richard and 4 siblings went to St. Louis Dist. in 1798/9. Richard received a Spanish land concession of 600 arpents on Mississippi River about 3 miles below mouth of the Missouri River, in St. Ferdinand Twp.
He was appointed a Justice of the Peace for St. Ferdinand Twp.
