Richard Cornelius BURROWS (aka Cornelius BURROWS aka BURROUGHS) was born 13/6/1767 (or 1759)

Richard was convicted of stealing a sheep (with Thomas WARD) and sentenced to 7 years transportation. He arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/6/1790 on "Scarborough"

Richard was sent to Norfolk Island in September 1791 on "Mary Ann"

From c1796 Richard had a relationship with Elizabeth COLE (they married 25/2/1810 in Hobart and they had the following children

  • Richard Cornelius BURROWS 13/6/1798
  • Ann BURROWS 8/5/1800
  • John BURROWS 7/3/1803

NOTE: Some trees also have a child Michael BURROWS but no details are given.

Richard, Elizabeth and their children and her children from previous relationships were sent to Van Diemens Land in September 1808

Richard died 27/2/1818 (drowned when the ferry he was operating capsized in the Derwent River, killing 12 people)
