About Robert Boyd, of Middle River
Robert Boyd (c1720-1752), Ulster Scot farmer and early pioneer of Augusta County, Virginia at Middle River.
He is said to have been born in County Donegal (Ireland), but no evidence is known.
His ancestry is unknown.
- He was perhaps a grandson of Robert Boyd and Abigail (Barnett) Boyd, who were married at Londonderry (Ireland) on 10 January 1698.
- If so, he was apparently a nephew of Margaret (Boyd) Hanna, wife of James Hanna, of Augusta County, Virginia.
- He also might have been a relative of Andrew Boyd (c1720-1750), of Augusta County.
His marriage license to Eleanor Porterfield was issued July 1749, Augusta County, Virginia.
