About Robert Griffin
http://genforum.genealogy.com/griffin/messages/5055.html
Several sources, including a number to LDS, claim that the immigrant Robert Griffin of Newport was married to the same Annis Almy that married John Greene of Rhode Island. The problem is that the dates overlap impossibly, so I discount Annis. I am a Greene/Almy descendant as well as a Griffin descendant, so noticed the conflict. I trust my Greene sources on this more than my Griffin sources.
Most sources claim Robert Griifin to have been married to a Hannah, and a couple sources claim that that was Hannah Waterman, daughter of the immigrants to RI, Thomas & Ann Waterman. Thomas had a brother Richard who also came to RI, so he needs to be checked out as well.
The only early published genealogy that I am aware of that refers to Robert Griffin is Edith Austin Moore's "A Genealogy of the Descendants of Robert Austin", in which she states that Robert's wife name was Mary -- not Hannah.
If one can believe online sources, the immigrant Robert Griffin had by whichever wife the following children:

If one can believe online sources, the immigrant Robert Griffin had by whichever wife the following children:
1. Benjamin born abt. 1639, married Sarah George
2. Hannah born 17 Dec 1642, married Thomas Nichols
3. Richard born abt. 1644, married Susannah Haight
4. Susannah baptized 13 May 1644, married John Spencer
5. Mary born 1649, married Thomas Fry.
My line is through Susannah Griffin & John Spencer per Moore's book on the Austin family of RI. 1. Benjamin born abt. 1639, married Sarah George 2. Hannah born 17 Dec 1642, married Thomas Nichols 3. Richard born abt. 1644, married Susannah Haight 4. Susannah baptized 13 May 1644, married John Spencer 5. Mary born 1649, married Thomas Fry.
