"In the name of God, Amen, I, Robert Montgomery,Sr. , of the County of Lincoln and the State of Va., being through the mercies of God, though weak in body, yet sound and perfect understanding and memory do constitute this to be my last will and testament and desire it to be received by all as such. In the first place I most humbly bequeath my soul to God, my maker, beseeching his most gracious acceptance of it through all sufficient and glorious mediation and mercies of my most Compassionate redeemer, Jesus Christ, who gave himself to be an atonement for my sin and is able to serve to the utmost all that come unto God by him seeing, he ever livith to make intercession for thrm and who, I trust, will not reject me, a returning repentent sinner when I come to him for mercy. In this hope and Confidence, I render up my soul, with comfort, humbly beseeching the Glorious Trinity of God, Most Holy, Most Merciful and gratuitous to prepare me for the time of Diss-felicity which he has prepared for those that love and fear his holy name. Amen.

Imprimis, I give my body to the earth from which it was taken in full assurance of its resurrection from thence at the last day. As for my burial I desire that it may be decent without Pomp or at state at the decretion of my dear wife, and my executors hereafter named, who, I doubt not will manage it with adequate Prudence.As to my wordly estate I will order positively that all my debts be paid.

Item; as for my cattle and household goods I will and bequeath to my loving wife Mary my three Milch cows. I will allow for John Simpson, in case at my decease to be raised off the whole estate. Also the one-half of the tract of land lying on the Jessamine containing Two hundred and fifty acres to be equally divided, land and water between my son Joseph and the above mentioned . Also one featherbed and furniture. All the rest of my land I will and bequeath to my sons James, William, Thomas, Samuel and Robert Montgomery, to be equally divided.

And all the rest of my estate to be equally divided among the whole of the legatees, except to James, my beaver hat and bible; To William, my hogs;to Thomas my croscut saw, Samuel, my new saddle, Robert my rifle and I do hereby authorize and Appoint my sons James, William and Samuel Executors, to see to order and direct my decrease that this last will and testament be carried into fact, according to the true meaning therof.
