After their marriage the couple remained in Wollombi, near Maitland where Robert carried on his trade as a shoe maker for the next 20 years. Late in the 1870s they moved to Sydney where Robert was a bootmaker of Alexandria at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife and 5 of his children.
