Robert Trexler Romig, 88, of Downingtown, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at Chester County Hospital, West Chester.
He was the husband of Susanna Elston Romig, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Downingtown, he was the son of the late Calvin Sylvester and Mary Trexler Romig and had lived all of his life in Downingtown on the Romig Orchard, where he was born and raised. Bob was a graduate of Downingtown High School, class of 1937, and a graduate of the RCA Institute. He was a pioneer in sound communications and his career took him to many sites in the United States. He was also a member of the Rotary Club of Downingtown. Mr. Romig enjoyed the hobbies of three-dimensional stereo photography, skiing, boating and was an owner and pilot of a Stearman airplane. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Romig Radke of Syracuse, N.Y.; and a granddaughter, Lydia Elizabeth Radke, also of Syracuse, N.Y. Bob's Life Celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the Ralston & Bredickas Funeral Home, 107 W. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, Jan. 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
