Roger Griswold was born 1540/5 was of Kenilworth, England, the son of William Griswold. He died before 1607.

Roger had three sons: Roger, Thomas, and George, the father of Edward Griswold, the Immigrant.

The name of the wife of Roger Griswold is unknown. She is frequently found as Elizabeth Buck, daughter of Francis Buck and Mary Wall. This is an error. Francis Buck does not have a daughter Elizabeth in the Visitations and he does not name a daughter Elizabeth in his detailed will.[2][3]
