About Rosalia Krueger

Rosalia was born on the Krenz Estate home near Konigsberg, East Prussia/Germany. Her parents Jakob (Jacob) Krenz 1810-1879 and Katherine Goltz 1812-1873 were a "Junker" family. Junkers were large land owners and most served in the Prussian military.

After the 1870 Prussian war Rosalia met Joseph Krueger, Sr., a Captain in the Prussian Army. Joseph had been several wounded in the last war and after recovery, they were married in 1873 Deutsch-Kron, Prussia. Their first child was born 11 Dec 1873 at Stephson, Prussia. Her mother died in 1873. In April 1874 Rosalia, her husband Joseph Krueger, sr, their 5 month old son John, her father Jakob Krenz and her sisters Appolonia and Maria departed German on the SS Neckar departing for America. They arrived at The Battery, New York City harbor (which in 1982 became Ellis Island). After arrival they proceeded to Winsted, Minnesota. They homesteaded a 160 acre farm in Winsted Lake Town Ship, Winsted, McLeod County, Minnesota. The farm is 1/2 mile south of Winsted Lake. The couple had 7 more children after arriving in Minnesota. They farmed until the time of her death.

Rosalia's youngest son Joseph Bernard Krueger told the grandchildren that Rosalia took sick after her daughter Anna died from the fallen tree that had been hit by lighting and that she blamed herself for not getting Anna away from the tree during a rain storm; and died of a broken heart.
