Additional Data

SAMUEL3, David2, Joseph1

Samuel Baldwin, son of David Baldwin and Mary Stream, was b. in Milford, Conn., on Dec. 25,1683.

In C.C. Baldwin's record he states "it has cost me great labor to trace the various Samuels, involving much search of land records, a well as other. The main trouble has been to ascertain, of the many of the name, which survived and had descendants." That this Samuel survived and lived in Milford, is shown by deed (Vol.9, pg 175, Milford Records) where he receives a deed from his brother Nathan, May 9, 1739; and (in Vol. 8, pg. 477) the two convey to Samuel Brisco, March 7,1735. There are several other deeds between the brothers. He was Samuel Jr., to distinguish him from Samuel3Josiah2John1, b. March 14,1674/75.

He married, Apr. 9,1712, SARAH CROSBY*. Samuel was interested in the settllement of New Milford, where three of his four sons settled. I cannot date his death, but his "relict" d. Feb. 23,1773, in her 92nd year, and was buried in New Milford.

Children were: Samuel (1713), Gamaliel (1716), Israel (1718), Sarah (1721-1722), and Abiel (1724).

In 1717, he is Junior, and a weaver. Not long after 1730, he is "Sargent Samuel,", a weaver, and as Sergeant and weaver, in 1734, receives deeds from, and makes one to his brother, Nathan.

NOTE: CC Baldwin's record gives his wife's name as Sarah CROSBY, but all research indicates she was Sarah KIRBY. (this is the birth surname being used).
