About Samuel Kellogg, Sr.
Resided in New Salem, MA. where all his children were born. His second wife was dismissed from the local church in New Salem, MA. and was recommended to church in Sangerfield, NY in 20 Apr. 1816, at about which time he probably removed to that place. He is said to have been a soldier in the American Revolution and was one of sixteen men who marched to re-enforce the army at Bennington VT. but did not arrive until after the battle. He told his children of the awful scenes which he witnessed on that field of blood.
