About Samuel Lobel
Was the first of the Lobel's to immigrate to the USA; Louis soon followed. Samuel was about to be conscripted into the Romanian Army, which was extremely anti-semetic, and this is what motivated him to leave.
The two brothers opened a delicatessin on Broome Street in the Lower East Side. The rest of the family soon followed.
Samuel and Yetta lived on Clinton Street, near the deli. All of their kids were born there. When Aunt Bea was 9 they moved to 127 S 9th St in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Then when she was 14 they moved to Morristown, NJ.
