  • THIS IS THE PRIMARY RECORD. PLEASE DO NOT MERGE SO THAT NOTES AND SOURCES ARE NOT LOST.*

This is an IOUS record (Individual Of Unusual Size), created as a result of the database structure of the old NFS website. PLEASE DO NOT MERGE OR CHANGE FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS. PLEASE DO NOT ADD MORE OF THESE INDIVIDUALS TO "CLEAN UP" THE APPEARANCE OF A PEDIGREE IN FAMILY TREE.

FamilySearch engineers are working to resolve these sorts of duplicates and confused family relationships, which are a result of introducing the NFS data to FamilySearch. It is understood that the high numbers of duplicate records like this can cause great frustration, but they have purposely been uncombined within the FamilySearch system by the engineers as a necessary step in the final stages of closing down the NFS database. The IOUS records will be resolved in due course.

THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF WORK TO BE DONE IN MORE RECENT GENERATIONS WITHOUT THE NEED TO FIXATE ON THESE INDIVIDUALS.

Please contact FamilySearch Customer Service with any questions about IOUS records.

Thank you so much.

!AFN: J191-82 !SOURCES: Records in the Ancestral File (ver B410). Pedigree sheet dated 1 Apr 1972 received from Janice Larsen Young, 23042 Colvert St., Woodland Hills, CA 91634. Pedigree sheet received in 1955 from Lucy Walker Burns, SLC, UT. Pedigree sheet dated 27 Jul 1987 prepared by United Ancestries. !*BIRTH/PARENTS: Pedigree sheets of Janice Larsen Young and United Ancestries indicate that he was born 6 Apr 1686 in Suffield or in Springfield, Hampden, MA as son of James and Mary Taylor. According to research done by late Lucy Walker Burns, he was born 11 Apr 1691 in Windsor, Hartford, CT as the child of John Taylor and Elizabeth Spencer. This birthdate would be consistent with being in 84th year at time of death in December, 1774. Edward Church Smith and Philip Mack Smith, authors of "A History of the Town of Middlefield, Massachusetts," (privately printed, 1924), agree that John Taylor and Elizabeth Spencer are the more likely set of parents for Samuel Taylor. In the church records in West Springfield for the baptism of son Nathaniel, Nathaniel is describes as being the son of Samuel Jr. This needs to be checked further and a determination made. !BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Per "Springfield Families," typescript manuscript prepared by Thomas B. Warren, deed E-127 dated 23 Feb 1717/8 refers to "Samuel Taylor Ye 2nd of Springfield & wife Sarah." A previous deed for purchase of the same land (?), deed E-126 dated 6 Apr 1717, refers to Samuel Taylor Jr.
