Sarah Smith was born in 1629, daughter of Edward Smith of Rehoboth, Massachusetts. [1] [2] [3] [4][5]

Sarah married Stephen Arnold at Providence, Rhode Island on November 24, 1646. [1] Stephen Arnold, son of William and Christian (Peake) Arnold, was born on December 22, 1622, baptized at Ilchester, Somerset, England on December 6 of that year. [6] He accompanied his parents to New England in 1635, when he was in his 13th year. They arrived at Hingham, Massachusetts but settled in Providence, Rhode, Island by 1636. [2] [3] [5]

They resided at Pawtuxet, Rhode Island, where Stephen was one of the wealthiest and most prominent proprietors in Rhode Island at the time. . [3] [5]

Stephen died November 15, 1699. [1][5] [4] His final burial place is in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Rhode Island, being moved from from Stephen Arnold Lot. [7]

Widow Sarah died on March 15, 1713. [15: 4: 1713] [4] Her final resting place is Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, where there graves were moved. Her inscription reads: Here lies intered the body of Sarah Arnold Aged 84 years Decesed April 15, 1713 [8]
