Sarah did not remarry after William's death, and lived until she was 70, dying in 1838. How she supported herself and raised her son is not known. William and Sarah are both buried in the Gainsboro Methodist Cemetery. Sarah Doster’s grandfather, Thomas Doster, Sr, was born in Niederhofen, Wurttenburg, Germany in 1695 and sometime in the early 1700’s came to America. He first settled in the German community in Philadelphia where he married Mariah Steifen. They eventually settled in Frederick County, VA. Their son, Thomas Doster Jr, was born in 1729 in Philadelphia, but moved with his family to Frederick County where he married Mary Crumley
