About William DeHaven
William DeHaven was born in 1769 in Whitpain Township, Montgomery County, PA to Peter and Abigail DeHaven. He moved with his parents and family to Gainsboro, Frederick County, VA in 1790. At the age of 23, he married Sarah Doster. Sarah Doster was born in 1768 in Frederick Co, VA to Thomas Doster Jr and Mary Crumley. William and Sarah were married in Gainsboro, VA Their children were Anna Mary (Bell) 1793 – 1882 Isaac Simon 1794 – 1868 Henry Doster 1795 – 1868 Driscilla (Light) 1795 – 1853 Westley 1796 - 1870
William died in 1800 at the age of 31, four years after the birth of their last child, Westley, leaving his wife a widow with five young children. It is not known of what he died at such a young age. Sarah did not remarry and lived until she was 70, dying in 1838. How she supported herself and raised her children is not known. William and Sarah are both buried in the Gainsboro Methodist Cemetery.
