About Sarah Hathaway

She is the direct descendant of Mayflower Pilgrims Francis Cooke and Richard Warren.

Daughter of John Cooke, "Mayflower" Passenger and Sarah Cooke

Biography

Sarah Cooke, daughter of John Cooke and Sarah Warren, was born about 1632/1635 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.[1] Arthur Hathaway married Sarah Cooke on November 20, 1652, in Duxbury, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[2]

They had the following children:

Hannah Hathaway,[3][4]
John Hathaway,[5][6]
Sarah Hathaway,
Mary Hathaway,[7][8][9]
Lydia Hathaway,[10][11]
Thomas Hathaway,[12][13]
Jonathan Hathaway,[14][15]
Father's Will

Before John Cooke's death, he deeded most of his lands to his children, and there are several conveyances "to my loving sonne in law Arthur Hathaway." [16]
In John Cooke's will he gives to Arthur Hathaway "and Sarah my daughter" "all the land in the point at or near the burying place in Dartmouth which I bought of John Russell." This point was to the north of Arthur Hathaway's farm, and is probably where John Cooke was buried. [17]
Husband's Will

Arthur's will, dated 9 Dec., 1709, proved 6 Feb., 1711, names wife Sarah and children John, Thomas, Jonathan, Mary Hammond, Lydia Sisson and Hannah Cadman.[18] In his will, Arthur describes himself as "very weak of body, but of perfect mind and memory." His wife, Sarah, who was probably some ten years his junior, was living when the will was drawn. To his daughter, Mary who had married Samuel Hammond, he left a legacy of five shillings. [19]
