The following was taken from the Feb. 9, 1942 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Final rites for Mrs. Sarah Oxendine, Indian woman, were held at the New Bethel church Sunday morning.
Officiating ministers were Rev. S. A. Hammond and Rev. Z. R. Jacobs. Pallbearers were: Willard, Alford, Thaddis, Earl, Vernon, and Lawrence Jr. Oxendine, all grandchildren of Mrs. Oxendine.
Flower girls were also grandchildren of the deceased: Emma Lee, Luanna, Cletus, Mary Lois, Zula Bell Oxendine, and Eunice Dial.
- **NOTE: Her younger brother, Charles H. Oxendine, is buried at the Oxendine Family Cemetery (Deep Branch Rd) in Pembroke, NC.
